MAPCDS holds accreditation and memberships with leading local and national organizations which enable us to undergo rigorous examination, engage in ongoing professional development, support families and promote equity in independent schools.
MAPCDS is one of only 12 free standing preschools accredited by NYSAIS in New York State. The review cycle is a continuous process of self-study and accreditation over a ten-year period, with progress updates and committee reviews every five years. Central to the process is the school’s own review as seen through the lens of our mission and guiding educational philosophy and set against NYSAIS principles of best practice. This formal examination is a year-long process involving all school constituents including administrators, teachers, and parents, and culminating in a four-day on-site review led by a Head of School and several peer educators. All aspects of the school are examined including teaching and learning, governance, finances, operations, community and strategic planning. Our most recent review was held in October 2016. MAPCDS is proud to be a member of this organization which holds schools to the highest standards. Our voluntary association with NYSAIS demonstrates the Day School’s commitment to excellence and ongoing growth and development.
ISAAGNY is a not-for-profit organization founded in 1965 to facilitate the admissions process for families. Member schools follow common guidelines which “affirm the dignity of each applicant child and his or her family members.” At the same time, ISAAGNY preschools and ongoing schools come together regularly to share resources and engage in professional development opportunities. The ISAAGNY ideals reflect our own: Each child and parent deserve our utmost respect, our teaching practice must be research based and ever-evolving, and the child must always be at the center of all we do. MAPCDS is dedicated to upholding these ideals.
